Next day:
NOTE: We’ll be “stranded” in a pleasant grassy meadow surrounded by woods, but may need to trek into the woods in search of treasure/survival gear/etc. – dress accordingly and/or bring something to protect yourself from brambles along the trail. This is not a place to wear your most delicate shoes or costume pieces; you will get dusty, at a minimum. There is wildlife, including several cats, a herd of goats, some chickens and two horses. There is an indoor bathroom available but we are providing a port-a-potty to reduce the strain on JoAnne’s septic system. There is ample tasty drinking water, but you should bring a water bottle or canteen to carry with you on your adventures. Refrigerator space is available to store your perishables. Paper plates, cups and eating utensils will be provided or you may bring your own (fashioned from coconut shells and bamboo, perhaps). Bring camp chairs or blankets to sit on, camp table if you have one, optional insect repellent if you’re sensitive (insects are not generally a problem in this location), and a sense of adventure! Overnight campers: Bring camping gear; (you may camp nearly anywhere on the grounds, including several pleasant areas in the woods or near the house). Provide something to add to the breakfast spread (eggs, juice, bacon, etc.) Bring tiki torches for the bonfire if you’ve got ‘em (some will be supplied) There is a kitchen, but you may bring your own camp cooking gear if you like Directions to Dryad’s Rest, 600 Leudinghaus Road, Chehalis, Washington: Take exit 77 off of I-5 onto Highway 6, westbound. Drive about 14 miles, turn right at the second River Road (with a yellow highway warning sign and a sign to Rainbow Falls Park) – warning, this is a hairpin turn. You will come to a single-lane temporary Army bridge. Cross it and turn left immediately afterwards onto Leudinghaus. Go about two+ miles to # 600 (on your right, look for a dark red flag at mailboxes) Take the long straight gravel driveway to the fork; take left fork (Dryad's Rest) and come on up to the house and park. |
